Atticus 3 scored an important victory on Monday night, defeating one of their principal rivals. The match always seemed like it would be close and, with Atticus 3 leading 3-2, it eventually came down to two games. Jim Wiseman exploited his time advantage in a tricky endgame where he was an exchange up but a couple of pawns down. Although his opponent had the two bishopsTom Lawton had an extra pawn and he eventually steered a tense encounter to a draw (he was the only player with the White pieces not to lose.) So Atticus 3 are in a strong position at the top of Division 2 - 5 games remain for them to play.
